West Turkey 10 Days
Day 1: ISTANBUL
Arrive Istanbul, where you will be met and
transferred to your hotel. Balance of leisure. Overnight in
Istanbul at the Hotel.
Day 2: ISTANBUL
Full day tour of the old city by coach and
guide. Byzantium in the 7th century BC, this ancient city
was renamed Constantinople in 326 AD by Constantine the
Great when he moved the capital of the Roman Empire to what
is now Istanbul. The city received its current name from
Mehmet II in 1453 and is the only city in the world that
spans two continents. We will also visit several of Turkey's
most famous museums and mosques, such as Topkapi Palace
which was first built by Mehmet the Conqueror in 1453 and
was the home of the Sultans until the 19th century. St.
Sophia was built by Emperor Justinian of the Roman Empire
and it was completed in 537 AD and ruled as the greatest
Christian Church in the world for more than 1000 years. The
Blue Mosque was commissioned by Sultan Ahmet in 1603 and was
constructed with the intention of rivaling St. Sophia. If
time permits, visit the Military Museum and enjoy a concert
performed in traditional costume by the world's first
established military marching ensemble. Transfer back to
your hotel. Overnight.
Day 3: ISTANBUL
Breakfast and half day bosphorus trip by boat.
Before the first stop of the boat which is going to be on
the european side, you shall see the second residence of the
Ottoman Sultans which is called Dolmabahce Palace. It was
built in 1849 by Balyan brothers. The boat is going to have
the ride close to the European side for a while, and you
shall be seeing one of the other works of the Balyan
brothers called Ciragan Palace and pass by the Ortakoy area
which is especially very important for the summer nightlife
of Istanbul with its restaurants, bars and cafes. It is also
the area for the three religions.There is church, a mosque
and a synagogue. After passing under the first bridge which
was built in 1973, you shall see two fancy night clubs on
the European side and Beylerbeyi Palace on the Asian side.
There will be an artificial island that you shall pass by.
On the Asian side there is going to be a massive building
with two towers. That is the military high school of Kuleli
which was built in 1861. As you go on the way you shall see
massive fortress on the European side which is called Rumeli
Fortress. It was built in 1452 by the Ottoman Turks. The
second bridge was built in 1988. You may have something to
eat in a cozy fish restaurant or you may go to the medieval
fortification to have a look at the Bosphorus and the
entrance of the Black Sea. Disembark and drive back to the
hotel by coach
Day 4: ISTANBUL-KAYSERI-CAPPADOCIA
Breakfast and transfer to domestic morning
flight to Kayseri, short visit the old Seljuk city and
continue to Cappadocia area. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5: CAPPADOCIAAfter breakfast, we will enjoy
the unique landscapes of the wind and rain eroded volcanic
formations. Carved directly into stone, Cappadocia's amazing
subterranean cities include ancient underground churches
hand-hewn from solid rock by Christians. While inCappadocia
we will enjoy an excellent lecture and a demonstration on
Turkish carpets and kilims. We will visit handicraft shops
as well as enjoy a folk dance and belly-dancing performance
while we wine and dine in an underground cabaret. Dinner and
overnight .
Day 6: CAPPADOCIA - IZMIR
Breakfast and drive for Ankara, then visit the
Mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the father of modern
Turkey. This beautiful landmark is perched atop a hill with
a panoramic view of the city. We will also visit the
magnificent Museum of Anatolian civilizations. This
particular museum contains relics from Catal Hoyuk, one of
the earliest known human communities up through the Roman
Classical period, covering 10,000 years. Continue to airport
for flight to Izmir.Overnight.
Day 7: IZMIR
Breakfast, then visit Ephesus and its colossal
Greco-Roman Theater. This theater is still used for just a
few things that we will be seeing. We will pay a visit to
the Ephesus Archeological Museum. We will also visit the
house where St. Mary lived her final Days and transferred to
your hotel, for an overnight.
Day 8: IZMIR - CANAKKALE
After breakfast, you will be driving Early
morning departure to ancient Pergamum, You will visit the
remains of the Asclepion and the library which once held
200,000 scrolls. Continue to Sardis, one of the wealthiest
cities in the ancient world, with its vast temple of
Artemis, ancient synagogue and Roman gymnasium. Arrivat at
Canakkale. Dinner and overnight.
Day 9: CANAKKALE - ISTANBUL
In the morning, departure from Canakkale . You
will continue onto the site of one of the most famous wars
of ancient times - Troy. A reconstructed wooden horse at the
entrance pays homage to Homer's Iliad, overnight in
Canakkale You will cross the The Dardanel through-Sea of
Marmara by ferry into Asia you will see the memorial to one
of the most tragic battles of modern times, the Battle of
Gallipoli. Overnight
Day 10: DEPARTURE FLIGHT BACK HOME
Breakfast, then you will be met by our
representative and transferred to Istanbul Airport where you
will be assisted with your check-in and immigration
formalities for your flight back home.
